Few key tips to help you keep your computers in good health

If you want your computer or computers to work as new, you should care for their good health, just as you would with a human. The complex combination of hardware and software which they really are requires regular maintenance to prolong their life to a maximum and keep your data safe from disasters. Here are some ideas about crucial maintenance, which should be done to any computer regularly.

1. The crucial piece of software for each of today’s computers is to have antimalware software installed. If you have it and keep it up to date, you can be sure no harmful software will come to visit you, and steal your information or ruin it.

2. Get a registry cleaner. This little tutorial is intended for Windows OS based machines, and a key feature of each Windows version is its registry file. It stores all kind of important information in it, but with the time much junk is piled in it too, so a specialized registry cleaner will help your Windows work fast and reliable for years.

3. Update your Windows as often as possible. Do not turn off the auto update feature, as many vulnerabilities and software problems are found during the life of the operational system by its manufacturer and fixes are automatically send to each computer that asks for them. If you want your computer to be as secure as possible – leave automatic updating turned on.

4. Your Windows has integrated maintenance software so use it. Check your hard disks for errors regularly and use the Windows tool to free space to make your OS feel comfortable on your hard disk. Also, specialized defragmeting software is included in each Windows since XP and we suggest you to use it once per two or three months to rearrange the data on your disk, thus fastening your whole system.

5. Do not keep many installed programs, which you do not use. These occupy both disk and memory space, slowing your machine and adding useless cycles to the CPU. You will see great improvement in speed and reliability when you remove these never used applications. Remember to always use the integrated Windows uninstaller and never directly delete a program directory. This creates errors in the registry and real danger to the stability of your whole Windows. Though registry cleaners will help in most such cases, it is generally not advisable to manually delete anything in the “Program Files” folder.

6. Turn your PC down from time to time. While it works, Windows uses more and more memory with every additional day of work, which may lead to system instability in the most inappropriate moment and data loss. When you give your computer the shutdown command, Windows automatically cleans up all the junk before the actual shutdown and you will notice the great improvement in speed after the restart yourself. Even though newer versions claim they can be run for months and years without restart it is good for your computer’s health to restart it from time to time.

If you follow these simple advices you will find out you suffer from much less restarts, blue screens and other errors and you machine generally works much faster and reliably.
