Take care of Exhaust fans for computers

The basic purpose of an exhaust fan is to reduce heat for comfort and for protection of health in the case of rooms where humans live or work. Inside the computer the job is of a bit more important. Moving and non moving parts inside the computer like power supply unit, hard disc drive etc generate heat. Most other components there are very complicated and sensitive. Uncontrolled rise in temperature might destroy them causing system failure and loss of data. Older generation of computers could survive with the cooling obtained by natural convection. Computers today are tough complicated machines designed for hard work and the power packed components inside generate a considerable amount of heat. Active cooling is required for this. Today’s computers use five or more fans to throw out the hot air and cause the cool air to rush in. Devices that absorb heat called heat sinks are placed on the circuits. It is the duty of the fans to circulate air over the heat sinks to effectively cool the components. The fans inside the computer should have lower sound levels, higher CFM rating and adjustable RPM

Many fans inside to deal with multiple problems. The case mounted fan cools the air around the case CPU and PSU fans focus on the heat susceptible units inside the PC. The motherboard’s chipset, graphics processing unit and graphics cards usually require cooling. The fan should ideally be smooth and noiseless with rust proof motor and bearings Zalman, Thermaltake, Panasonic, NorthQ, Noctua, Nidec, Enermax, Delta, Cooler Master, Arctic Cooling and Antecseveral etc are some good brands that meet the specification.
