Few Common Computer problems and their easiest solutions

Modern day computers and laptops are complicated pieces of technology and a common rule of engineering states that the more complicated the piece of equipment is, the more prone to failures it will be. And sadly, modern computer system or laptop is much more probable to have a serious problem. Of course, in most cases the problem is easily solvable, and in some cases by the end-user himself. Here are some examples of common problems and fast fixes.

1. If your laptop does not even turn on

Pretty obviously the problem may be in the battery. But you will not believe how often the battery is ok, and the power adapter has been unplugged by another person. So take a look at the battery charging light and if it is off, go find the other end of the power cable and plug the charger in. If it is plugged in but the battery is still not charging, it may have failed, but another common problem is a failed safety fuse of the electrical grid of the building. Check it out and in case it is OK, start searching more complex solutions (or call service technician). If your battery is too old, it may have failed, so if you have a spare one it is always a good idea to put it on to see if the problem is solved.

2. If your computer or laptop feel slower and slower with every passing day.

With every new program you install on your laptop or desktop, your Windows installation becomes slower and slower. It has to store the information in its registry, keep track on changes of the files etc. If you have installed many programs that stay active in the taskbar you may bring even more powerful computer to its knees in no time. Also, another common mistake is installing 2 antivirus or antispyware programs that are active at the same time. This may cause interconnected checks of each file to be carried on, slowing your system down up to 2 times. Always use only one active checking antivirus system.

3. If you cannot connect to Internet

Many laptops have a hardware switch that disconnects the WiFi card physically, to securely stop outer access to your machine, did you check it? From time to time it gets pressed accidentally, leaving you with no Internet access. Also check the WiFi router to which you connect, it may have failed due to a power surge for example, or may simply need restart. If you have specialized software application that helps you connect to WiFi hotspots check its settings, so check its settings too, your WiFi card may have been disabled by it too. Restarting your laptop or desktop is always a good idea, even better is full stop the starting of the machine again. In most cases this solves the problems connected to WiFi or LAN access.

Of course these are not the only cases in which you may need help to start your normal work. If you cannot find suitable information on the web or are not sure in your own ability to handle the problem, it is always a good idea to call a specialist to do the job, to avoid damaging your software.

Research in Motion Unveils Their PlayBook

With every technology company coming out with their answer to the question of who can compete with the iPad, Research in Motion (R.I.M), the creator of the Blackberry smart phone, announced their own tablet at a developers’ conference in San Francisco. Their name for it is the PlayBook.R.I.M. is known for popularizing wireless e-mail and making it easy for people to get their e-mail to their phones. However, since Apple and Google have released phones, R.I.M. has been giving up its incredibly sizeable lead. Some analysts even suggest that R.I.M. now has to play catch up with Apple to ensure that they stay successful. However, R.I.M. is tackling this from a different perspective. The iPad is a general use product. According to Michael Lazaridis, CEO of R.I.M., this is “the world’s first professional tablet” and will be compatible with the servers that corporations and governments use to track their employee’s Blackberries. One of the features that were discussed about the PlayBook is the built in outlets that allow users to connect their tablet to a computer monitor or a TV. This makes presentations considerably easier because users only have to carry the small tablet rather than a laptop. Many criticize R.I.M. for their outdated operating system used on their phones. They listened. They are using a new operating system developed by QNX Software Systems which is a company that R.I.M. acquired earlier this year. This new software, it is assumed, will run effectively. To demonstrate how the PlayBook is a slight jab at the iPad, but not in direct competition with it, Mr. Lazardidis demonstrated how they will be using Adobe Flash on their product. It can be recalled that Steve Jobbs was very firm on the fact that Adobe Flash was the reason that his products crashed and therefore, he wouldn’t put them on the Apple line. The one part that is a little discouraging for some about the PlayBook is the fact that it doesn’t connect to a mobile phone line. However, it can connect to your Blackberry device—if you have one—and a WiFi connection, so you can still have total coverage. It connects to your Blackberry device by means of a Bluetooth connection. On the announcement of the PlayBook, Amazon came out and said that they would be releasing a Kindle app for the PlayBook.Little is known about the price, release date and other features for this product. While Mr. Lazaridis turned on the device, he didn’t do much more. However, it is speculated that the device will be released in the New Year.
